IR LED Lights are the Infra Red Light Emitting Diodes that emit light in a wavelength that is faster than that which can be visible to a human eye. The light emitted from these devices is said to be closer to the light spectrum as compared to the microwaves. An IR LED light works similar to an LED light. The main differences between these two is the visibility of light produced and the power requirement of each of them.
The IR LED Light device is built up using two semiconductor sections. These are the positively charged section called as the P section and the negatively charged section, called the N. When the light is off and there is no power supplied to it, the area between these two sections becomes neutral and does not allow current to pass through it. This area is called the neutral depletion zone that does not pass current from one side to the other while the device is switched off. When the power is switched on and the electrical charge is allowed to pass through the area between sections, the electrons from the negative i.e. the N section jump to the positive section. Thus releasing some amount of energy and emitting photons. The distance that electrons cover while they jump from one section to the other, determines the amount of photons they emit and their wavelength. With an introduction of IR Illuminators in LED Lights, the device designed in such a way that the distance up to which the electrons are made to jump is limited. This contributes to obtain the actual wavelength that is required.
An IR LED Light is majorly used for the purpose of security. Although this light is not visible to the human eye, it can be captured by cameras used in security systems. These devices such as IR LED Spotlights or the connecting IR Illuminators to cameras can help capture images and videos even in the dark. Another use of these IR LED Lights is that they are used in remote controllers of many electronic devices such as televisions, stereos and many more. They are passed in the form of a binary code which is later received by an infrared receiver and converted into the specific signal. Similarly, these devices can be widely used for many other applications depending on the way they are modified and made to work.
